Veneziana

1) How does it react to underfloor heating?
Thanks to the epoxy binding, the floor is able to absorb the heat expansion caused by underfloor heating. The heat transmission is significant compared to a veneziana with cement binding, and this fact together with a lesser thickness means less power is needed to heat a room.

2) Is it possible to lay veneziana on an existing floor?
Yes, on the condition that the existing floor is in good shape, resistant and adherent to the floor foundation.

3) What should the floor foundation be like?
Ideally with a base of sand and fine cement, or self-levelling cement.

4)What are the advantages of terrazzo with epoxy binding as opposed to one with cement?
A terrazzo with epoxy binding has a reduced thickness compared to one with cement binding (1cm instead of 2.5 cm) and this gives a reduced weight which is a particularly important aspect in old constructions.

The wear resistance is higher

reduced risk of cracking and splitting

possibility to do large areas without joins

great speed of execution

ease of cleaning and reduced maintenance.

5) How much time is needed to lay a terrazzo with epoxy binding?
For an area of about 100m2, about two weeks are required

6) How do I clean it?
A soft cloth and a neutral detergent is sufficient.

7) After how long should it be repolished?
In a private dwelling, it's not necessary. In a public environment, every 5-10 years depending on the foot traffic it's subjected to.

8) Is is possible to lay veneziana outside?
It is not advisable because when it rains it becomes very slippery.

9) Does is scratch?
It behaves like a marble floor

10) Are there any products which can damage it?
All aggressive chemical products which are not removed quickly: wc net, coca-cola, vinegar, acid based products. If oil is left for a long time it can leave streaks.

11) How does it react to knocks or falling heavy objects?
Well, it doesn't chip or scratch.

12) Can I clean it with vinegar? And with bicarbonate?
With vinegar no, with bicarbonate yes.

13) Can the stones become detached?
No, the epoxy binding guarantees an excellent cohesion once the mixture hardens.

14) What's the thickness?
Varies from 8 to 12mm depending of the granulometry

15) What's the difference betweem veneziana and palladiana?
Veneziana is made of crushed marble pebbles with a size varying from 2 to 20mm mixed with marble powder and bindings such as lime, cement or epoxy resin.
Palladiana however has small slabs of marble or other material laid down and joined together with cement and lime.
